Galactics Clearwater International F.C. celebrated the successful close of an excellent weekend at the State Cup Finals in Naples, Florida last Sunday, April 27th.  The soccer club left with four teams (Galactics I, Galactics II, Galactics III and Galactics Over40) to represent Clearwater at this biggest of Florida's tournaments and to compete for the championship trophies in four different State Cup divisions (Florida Cup, President's Cup, Chairman's Cup and Over40 Cup).  The four teams, playing in the FSSL 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Over40 divisions had qualified themselves for the State Cup Finals after winning the State Cup qualifiers on the weekend of April 6th.

Galactics Clearwater International F.C. will be representing Clearwater with 4 teams at this years State Cup Finals Weekend in Naples. Galactics I, Galactics II, Galactics III and Galactics O40 will compete in Florida's top tournament this weekend April 26 - 27.  Galactics I and Galactics O40 return to defend their Championship titles from last year's tournament.

Galactics I is the Florida Champion of the US Men's Open Cup 2008.  The team celebrated a 5:2 victory against Lynch's Irish Pub in Jacksonville last Sunday, April 20th.  Galatics will now represent Florida along with four other teams at the Region III tournament in Orange Park, May 23-26.  From there the road will take our team all the way to Washington State for the National Cup Finals in August.

4 Big Games This Weekend - 4/6/08!

The following FSSL games will be played this Sunday:

• Galactics I is playing in the Florida State Cup 2008 with the first game this Sunday at 11:00am versus SPFC Knights in Puryear Park, St. Petersburg.

• Galactics II plays in the final of the Second Division Cup 2008 against Dirtbox F.C. in Canalpark, Oldsmar at 10:00am.

• Galactics III faces Juvenil F.C. in Stuart for their first game in the Chairman's Cup 2008 at 3:00pm.

• Galactics O40 starts plays the Men's O40 Cup with a 1st game versus Broward Select in Coral Springs at 6:00pm.

Our Galactics O40A Team played a great game against Carrollwood International, Wednesday, March 12th, at Phillip Jones Park. Our 13 players beat the 17 Carrollwooders 1:0 in what surely was the best O40A Game this FSSL Season 2007/08.  The goal was and excellent pass from Ronal Valderrama to Ralf Gerhardt, who outdid the goalie, playing the ball to Pablo Santa Cruz and SCORE!
